Experience the active-winter from its most beautiful side. Where there are hiking trails in the summer, you will find in winter numerous snowshoe and winter hiking trails. Whether it’s a guided tour or an expedition on your own, there is no better way to explore the snowy winter landscape.
Our guests will find some winter hiking trails on the promenades of the Zeller Lakeshores, as well as directly on the lake. Most of the paths are cleared for your hiking adventures. For those who want to hike higher, for example on the Schwalbenwand, it is best get some snowshoes so you do not sink into the fresh powder snow. On the Schmittenhöhe and the Kitzsteinhorn you will also find guided winter hikes. The overview of the appointments can be found here. Generally reservations are necessary.

Brunnwiesenweg from Kaprun
The Brunnwiesenweg is the ideal walk for the family. You start from Kaprun, passing the castle of Kaprun, through the Kaprun moor and walk along the Salzach shores towards Salzachbrückenwirt. The paths are cleared and suitable for baby prams. You’ll find the link to the hike here.

Dr. Müller Promenade (Nr. 61)
The Dr. Müller Promenade connects Zell am See with the Einöd, which lies in the direction of Maishofen. The promenade runs along the lakeshores and promises fantastic views. The path is usually cleared, but hiking shoes are recommended. The link to the hike can be found here.

Golf Course Route
The golf course route starts in Schüttdorf. It is also an easy hike but offers fantastic views, so a perfect fit for your active-winter plan. You walk along the cross-country trail through the Zeller Becken past the golf course and frozen ponds. The route through the Zeller Becken is a beautiful option for couples and the whole family. A toboggan party as fun for the whole family
Whether it’s during the day or a romantic evening out, the nearest floodlit toboggan run can be found in Bruck an der (next to the) Großglocknerstraße. You can go by foot or by tractor along the floodlit road up to the Kohlschnait Guesthouse. For lunch or dinner they serve a variation of regional specialties. After a rustic hut evening you will toboggan towards the valley having great fun. Toboggans are available for hire. You can find the link to the offer here.

If you are happy to take a short drive, you should drive to Bramberg am Wildkogel. There you take the Smaragdbahn cable car up to 2,100 metres before you descend on the longest floodlit toboggan run in the world of 14KM – a true must make in your active-winter. Both at the start and on the way to the valley there are possibilities to pull in for a rest. Toboggans and a discounted lift card are available at the valley station. Generally on Tuesday and Friday they have extended opening hours until 18:30.
